SOD: 11/27/07 (You Can Bank on That)

Scripture: Psalm 33:4 (New International Version)
For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does.

Devotion
One of the things that always bring a smile to my face is seeing little kids around their parents. The level of trust a child has with their parent when they are 3, 4, 5 or 6 is just so high. I have a friend who for years thought that thunder was God bowling all because his father told him that when he was a child. The friend trusted his father, because to his knowledge his father’s word was true.

One of the hardest things about our Christian walk is actually trusting God. Even though we know that He has our best interest in mind and we have seen Him work miracles in our lives. We can’t physically see Him, we just see the end result. I want to encourage you today, to focus on that end result not on the fact that you can’t see God. That end result was achieved thru his Word, which has been true since the beginning of time.

The heavens and earth were created thru God giving His word. Adam and Eve were created thru God giving His Word. The Red Sea was parted because God gave His word. Jesus came and did what He did because God gave His Word. For those of you who allow God to order your steps, you don’t have to worry about life’s essentials, because God gave his word (Psalm 37:23-25). Therefore, we must be child-like in our trust in the Lord and His Holy Word. He has given us the ability to know Him via His Holy Word, the Bible. And unlike my friend, you don’t have to worry about God’s word coming back void (Isaiah 55:11). It holds true. You can bank on that.
