Satan Has Power Over Those Who Do Not Forgive Others

We read in Revelation 9:1-11: And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from heaven which had fallen to the earth; and the key of the bottomless pit was given to him. And he opened the bottomless pit; and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke of the pit. And out of the smoke came forth locusts upon the earth; and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And they were told that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only the men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. And they were not permitted to kill anyone, but to torment them for five months; and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings a man. And in those days men will seek death and will not find it; and they will long to die and death flees from them. And the appearance of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle; and on their heads, as it were, crowns like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men. And they had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to battle. And they had tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt men for five months. They have as king over them, an angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon.

This star is clearly a fallen angel, most probably Satan. This fallen angel was given the key of the bottomless pit where some demons are locked up by God (as we read in 1 Pet.3:19). All demons are not there. Most demons have freedom to roam around on the earth. Remember the man with a legion of demons whom Jesus met? The demons within that man pleaded with Jesus not to send them into the bottomless pit. Jesus granted their request and sent them into the 2000 pigs that ran into the sea. But one day the bottomless pit is going to be opened; and the demons that are locked up there are going to be released on to the face of the earth.

That is part of the judgment that God is going to allow upon the face of this earth, as though the Lord says to the people, “You wanted to follow the advice of the devil. You wanted to obey the devil’s words rather than Mine. All right. Here are all your friends who are going to visit you now, the whole lot of them from the bottomless pit.” That is what we see here.

The smoke from the pit is the filth and muck of the unclean spirits. The locusts are the evil spirits who are granted power to poison men’s minds and torment them even as the scorpions of the earth have power to poison men’s bodies. The torment of these demons will be so bad that many people will want to die, but they will not be able to commit suicide!!

The description of the demons is terrifying - terrifying faces, flying hair like that of mad women and the teeth of lions - all pictures to show us how horrible it is going to be for those who will be tormented by these demons. But they are given permission to hurt men only for five months. Why only for five months? Because God is merciful.

Jesus told a story in Matt.18:23-35. of a man who was forgiven forty million rupees by a king, who would not then forgive his fellow servant a paltry sum of forty rupees. This unmerciful man caught his fellow servant by the throat and said, “Pay up.” And when the king heard it he was angry and handed the unmerciful servant over to the torturers. Those torturers symbolise demons who are permitted to torment unmerciful believers today. For Jesus said, “So shall My heavenly Father also do to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.” (v.35)

This is something serious, and I don’t want anyone’s blood on my hands. If you who are reading this, (whether you call yourself a believer or Spirit-baptised or whatever) have not forgiven even one person anywhere in the world, I want to warn you (no matter how long you may have considered yourself to be a “believer”) that you will certainly not enter the kingdom of God. You will certainly not be taken up when Jesus comes. You will instead be handed over to these demons who have the sting of a scorpion. That is as clear as black and white to me, because I believe the words of the Lord Jesus. That man who was handed over to the torturers was a man who was once forgiven. But his master withdrew that forgiveness, because he would not forgive someone else. God will not hesitate to hand over such a man to the demons. That is why I would plead with you earnestly, “Get rid of your bitterness (your Wormwood). Forgive everyone freely. Your heavenly Father will not forgive you if you do not forgive even one human being on the face of the earth.”

The name of the angel of the bottomless pit, Abaddon or Apollyon, means “Destroyer”. That describes, in one word, Satan’s purpose for man - to destroy him with lust or an unforgiving attitude.

Jesus spoke of scorpions in Lk.10:19 to symbolise the powers of darkness. He said to His disciples, “I have given you authority over serpents and scorpions to tread upon them.” The demons can only harm those who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. Spiritually speaking, you can’t have that seal on your forehead if you haven’t forgiven others.

But, you can’t know God and be immoral in your life. You can’t know God and be a lover of money. That’s impossible! And that’s why most preachers take the easier path of knowing the Bible rather than knowing God.I want to ask you: Are you happy with just knowing the Bible or is there a desperate hunger in your hearts to know the Lord? The apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:8-10 that his greatest longing was to know the Lord better. He considered everything else as rubbish compared to knowing the Lord. Paul gave up all his pearls for this pearl of great price. The secret of Paul’s ministry is to be found not in the years that he spent studying the Bible at Gamaliel’s seminary, but in his personal knowledge of the Lord."Eternal life is to know God and Jesus Christ personally" (John 17:3). We have perhaps defined eternal life as living eternally in heaven. But that was not how Jesus defined it. Eternal life has nothing to do with going to heaven or escaping hell. It has to do with knowing the Lord. To know God intimately and personally has been the passion of my life and the burden of my heart. I know that my ministry can have Divine authority only as I know God personally. And so, in all of our churches, I have sought to lead people to a knowledge of God Himself.There is more Bible knowledge today than ever before in history. For nearly 1500 years after the day of Pentecost, there were no printed Bibles available anywhere. Only in the last two centuries have Bibles been so freely available. Today, we have so many versions and concordances and study-helps. But do you think all this increased Bible knowledge has produced holier Christians? No. If Bible knowledge could produce holiness, we should be having the godliest people in history living today. But we don’t. Satan himself would have been holy if Bible knowledge could produce holiness - for no one knows the Bible as well as he does. We have so many seminaries today teaching the Bible to thousands of students. But, are the godliest people in the world today found in those seminaries? No. Many seminary graduates today are worse than the heathen.Some years ago, I met a seminary graduate from one of India’s top evangelical seminaries, who had stood first in his graduating class. He told me that after three years in that seminary, his spiritual condition was worse than when he first joined it. What then did that seminary teach him? It had taught him facts about the Bible and about Christianity. Satan himself could have graduated as first in the class, from such a seminary.What was the use of that young man learning Hermeneutics, and what the "higher critics" had said, and what the root-meanings of Greek words were, if he hadn’t overcome anger, bitterness, lustful thoughts and the love of money? With his newly-acquired certificate, he would soon become a pastor of a church. But, what would he teach the people in his church, whose biggest problems would be moral and not theological? He wouldn’t be able to help them at all, in any of those areas. This is how God’s work around the world is being destroyed.Only if you know God yourself, will you be able to lead your flock to know Him. If you have victory over sin in your own life, you’ll be able to lead your flock also to victory over sin. Then they too will be equipped to go out and serve the Lord - with authority and power. Do you think the devil is impressed by anyone’s Bible knowledge or degree-certificates? Not at all. West Chester, OH: United Television, the production company behind the Allstate Gospel Superfest TV series announces today that it will tour three US (cities in August in search for its 2012 opening act. The contest, The Allstate Gospel Superfest Battle of the Bands-2011 will audition gospel groups, soloists, quartets and ensembles of (20 members or less), in search of the next opening act for the Gospel Superfest TV taping slated for 2012. Dr. Bobby Cartwright, The show's executive producer and show's production staff will travel to Indianapolis, IN (Sunday August 7, 2011), Jackson, MS, (Saturday, August 12, 2011) and Philadelphia, PA (Saturday, August 27, 2011).

"We are always looking to see who the next rising star might be in gospel music and we hope to do our small part in helping to spring board a few ministries and have some fun on the road this summer," states Cartwright. "The Allstate Gospel Superfest is a major opportunity for up and coming artists. Just think, in one stop, you can appear in front of hundreds of millions of TV households, launch a career via international television, and begin a career that we hope will be fruitful and beneficial to faith-based audiences around the world. "

Last year's competition yielded some very noteworthy artists including, Kevin Jarido and Nu Virtu, Donte Everhart & The End Time Movement, both producer's wild card selections and the 2010 grand prizewinners, The Soul Messengerz of the Washington, DC area. Regional standouts last year also include Nikki D. and The Browns (a sibling group from Toledo, OH, Little Sammy & the Flying Clouds of New York City and The Kaiser Singers of Jackson, MS.

The contest will offer a grand prize of $2,500.00, a national TV appearance, and trip to the international TV taping which is scheduled for January, 2012. The name of the group came from the groups founder, Ted Nobody Brooks. God gave me a vision of something that I call Christ Life. Before I got saved I was really into Tupac. I really believed in Thug Life to the point where I went down that path. Christ Life is a different path with a much better future. Nobody says.I moved to Moreno Valley, CA, where I met my partner Nine Up. Nine Up stands for the 9 fruits of the Spirit with the power to Unify People. From that point on I was constantly in the streets trying to get at people about the Lord. 6 months after I got saved I started rapping again, Nobody says. At that point the C.L.Ryderz was born and thus began the ministry of Christ Life.

Who is this REBEL?

An unlikely story stands behind the man known by many as "Lecrae". From the southside of Houston to a leader in the movement of urban reform, a rocky road provides a window into the grace he experienced through out his life, with every situation molding him into the artist and leader that he is today.
Born and raised by his mother in a struggling community on the south side of Houston, Lecrae moved around to several places giving him the versatile background and cultural awareness he carries with him. San Diego, Denver, and Dallas have also once been home to him and the street life he once idolized and pursued. Along the way, like many in the inner city, he took to rapping as a way of communicating his mind. It wasn't until after high school that his hobby became a passion after his hip hop background was redeemed by Jesus Christ.

At 19 years old at the encouragement of a christian leader he attended a conference and heard James White delivering the message. In that moment, sitting in a chair, his world was flipped upside down as the Holy Spirit convicted him of his sin and need for a Savior. That day Lecrae was rescued by the Lord and began following after Christ. Almost instantly his renewed heart spilled over as he printed his testimony and passed it out enthusiastically all over his college campus at University of North Texas. The next 5 years included many struggles and victories before he teamed up to begin Reach Records, releasing his first album at the age of 25.

Calling Dallas home, Lecrae remained content using his gifts of speaking and rapping while volunteering at a juvenile detention center, but the Lord would have different plans and soon he began working on his debut "Real Talk". Pouring out a genuine discussion of life issues and passionate, unashamed pursuit of Jesus Christ, Real Talk was released to the world where he quickly became noted as an emcee that would meet listeners where they were by delivering transparent, relatable, and impacting messages.

As Lecrae continued to make his mark in the music industry, he realized the stage wasn't enough. He wanted to see deeper impact in urban culture. There needed to be a culturally relevant and biblically solid resource center to help train the next generation. Co-founding ReachLife Ministries in 2005, the non-profit organization exists to partner with organizations to equip local leaders with culturally relevant tools and media projects designed to strengthen communities with the word of God. ReachLife is another vital piece in the larger vision of seeing a reformation in urban culture.

Since formation, Lecrae has released the groundbreaking album After the Music Stops and the first Christian Rap CD to ever sit in the No. 1 position on Billboard's Top Gospel Charts, Rebel. Led by the classic single 'Jesus Musik,' After the Music Stops slowly spread to the mainstream market with other hits such as 'Praying For You' and 'Send Me.' Aimed to build an audience of disciples, the album sat on Soundscan's Christian Hip Hop/R&B chart for two years after releasing in 2006. While in the No. 3 position, Rebel released in 2008 and claimed the No. 3 position on the secular iTunes' Rap chart.

A graduate of University of North Texas, Lecrae now resides in the inner city of Memphis, one of the nations most violent cities. A movement is brewing around the country with hungry, unashamed believers popping up in inner city communities everywhere. Lecrae is humbled to be a part of leading others towards Christ so that lives can be changed forever just like his changed years ago. With new avenues and strategic partnerships Lecrae prays that the impact from Reach will spread far beyond simply the music and into the lives of believers across the world.

Each of us is writing a book. The question is: how does your life read? A graduate of The Institute of Jewish Studies and Philadelphia Biblical University, Da’ T.R.U.T.H., born Emanuel Lee Lambert, Jr., has been involved in urban missions since he was 16. His television appearances include “BET News” (aired during “106 & Park”), BET’s “Lift Every Voice,” TBN’s “Praise The Lord,” INSP’s “Steelroots” and “Mixx Master’s Lounge” and the Word Network’s “Bobby Jones Gospel.” Da’ T.R.U.T.H. was also a featured artist in “Holy Hip-Hop: The Movie,” Christopher Martin’s urban Christian film.

There’s something to be said about a man who is confident in being who he is. In an industry where an artist’s image is created to sell records, few dare to be who they really are without compromise. Rap recording artist Dae-Lee is a firm believer in sticking to the truth and presenting himself with flaws and all.

“I grew up in a Christian home, one of few that we knew of in my neighborhood,” Dae-Lee says. “One thing that I remember was the fact that as a family we were never trying to blend in or anything, we knew who we were. We were just as confident in our lifestyle as a thug on the street was about his lifestyle. When people saw that, they respected us for keeping it real with who we were.”

On his debut independent project, Love’s Pain, Dae-Lee remains true to his family’s philosophy. The songs that he writes are reflective of where he is in his life and the issues that he’s facing. He believes that many people are working through the same problems and will relate to what is being voiced through his lyrics.

On the track, “Oh Lord,” Dae-Lee talks about how God gave him his musical talent and then challenged him to move out of his comfort zone. He explains, “When it comes to performing, I still don’t see myself as a ‘rapper on stage in front a crowd’ type of person, but just like everything else that’s coming to be, I see that God wants me to step outside of myself.”

Dae-Lee was first drawn to music and the hip hop genre as a teenager. One of his uncles, a musician himself, gave Dae-Lee a keyboard with the stipulation that he could keep it as long as he was putting it to good use. He used the gift to create hip hop beats and songs with other rappers in the area and began to grow as an artist. While still in high school, his lyrics focused on the pain of family issues and the influence of growing up in a neighborhood where sex, drugs, hustling and guns were the norm. The music also reflected his inner struggle with the Lord and the weakening of his faith.

Shortly after his high school graduation, Dae-Lee found a new direction for his music. A friend invited him to a youth event at a church, where he saw Christian rap artist Israel the Warrior perform. He had never seen rap used to glorify God and he realized that his music should do the same. Dae-Lee kept rapping about life, but a new underlying theme began to emerge.

“Most of what I talk about now revolves around a relationship with Jesus Christ,” he says. “I can be talking about anything from broken families, disappointments to music, but it all comes back to that relationship.”

Dae-Lee’s first recording experience was at a studio at Norfolk State University, where he recorded vocals for six songs he had written with a couple of friends. The project was created just for fun, but the experience gave Dae-Lee the push he needed to pursue his music more seriously.

Now, Dae-Lee has his own studio where he recorded the music for his upcoming album, Love’s Pain. “I saved up and purchased the materials for a studio that would allow me to produce and record at home without giving up the quality of a high-end studio,” he says. He also started JJ-Productions (Jehovah Jireh Productions) and is producing music for other up-and-coming artists.

With the release of Love’s Pain, his production work and an upcoming touring schedule, Dae-Lee is on the rise of becoming who God wants him to be. “God has brought me here and the only thing I see messing it all up is me trying to snatch the controls away from him to try and make things happen myself. He has and is taking care of me so I trust Him to continue.”
